He told us all the different kinds of geologists, rocks and minerals. The teacher we have chosen to interview interview this week is Miss Walker. Q. How long have you been teaching? A. I have been a teacher for four years. Q. What grades have you taught? A. I have taught grades 1-5. Q. Have you taught in any other schools before Orono and Lockhart? A. No, I have not. The fall flower and vegetable show of the Orono Horticultural Society was held October 5 in the main hall of the Orono United Church. So each person that stops smoking is aiding ■< in preventing fires. One morning, several years ago my neighbour came over to get . eggs. She was very excited. She said, "Have you plenty of insurance?" insurance?" I said, "I hope so." She said, "There is always such a danger from smoking." 1 said, "No one hçre smokes." She said, "Doesn't the old man?" She referred referred to my father-in-law. I replied, "No". I heard later that her husband , always smoked a cigarette before going to sleep and that she always stayed awake and made sure' that the cigarette was extinguished. However, this night she was extremely extremely tired and fell asleep as soon as she lay down. When she awakened awakened later the bed clothes were in flames. No wonder she was so terrified. terrified. > I had anpther neighbour across the road who was sweeping the floor one morning with a cigarette in her fingers. What is your favourite grade? A. My favourite grade is 4 and 57 the grades I'm teaching now. Q. What sports do you like? A. The sport I like is Kàrate. Q. What are your hobbies? A. The thing 1 enjoy most is singing and music. Q. If you have a choice what would you pick to be? A. If I had a choice I would want to be Queen of England. Q. What places have you sang in? A. President Doreen Lowery opened the meeting and welcomed all present. present. Accompanied by Gladys Brown at the piano the members joined in singing O Canada. During the business portion of the meeting Carol Mostert presented the secretary's report and the treasurer's report given by Adel McGill. Once again, the society will present an award at the Clarke High School commencement to the student student who is furhtering his career in the field of horticultural. The Orono Junior Gardeners are hosting District 17's first Junior Gardeners annual meeting on October October 14th at Orono United Church. The musical entertainment for the evening by Mr. Fred Stiekan, Crooked Creek, which consisted of a variety of accordian selections was enjoyed. Isabelle Chkllice ■ introduced the guest speaker for the ëvening, Mrs. Helen MacDonald whP spoke on a community concern "Our Environment." Environment." Helen emphasized the care of disposing household hazardous materials and toxic substances containers, containers, which should not be put in household garbage, but disposed of at the Hazard Waste Depot at the Brock Landfill Site. Doreen thanked thanked Helen for a most informative and interesting presentation. Lunch prepared by Inez Harris, Dorothy Barnett and Helen Robinson Robinson was enjoyed during the social time. The Christmas Show is December 7, so check the year book and start preparing for the show now. We welcome new member and first time exhibitor Shelley Etman- ski. This colourful anil decorative show was made possible through the dedicated efforts of 15 exhibitors exhibitors with 94 entries.
