It may help you to decide the career for you. written by Duane McQuaid Big decisions by little minds To build some background for this story we will have to go back into into the past some eight to nine years when Jim, Nancy, Jamie and the dog Brandy were visiting with us from Edmonton. They now reside in the Picton area along with a new addition to the family, Billy. If has to do with Brandy, a reddish reddish coloured Cocker Spaniel, which at the time I thought looked somewhat like Peter Lougheed, then premier of Alberta. In fact I often called the dog Peter. It was at a time when Lougheed- was putting the squeeze On the rest of Canada over the supply of the province's oil supply. On the first night in the house the dog was on general patrol all through the night and occasionally would nuzzle you out of a dead ^ sleep. À. Donna noted the fact in the morning morning and said if Sid Rutherford and I were gding skiing we could take the dog for some of that good Ganaraska fresh air and the challenge 'of the hills and valleys. "Maybe the dog will settle down tonight tonight and let us get some sleep." Brandy has an important air about himself and sitting in the front seat of the car seems to miss nothing giving you only a sad look every once and awhile. It's typical of cocker spaniels. When I arrived at Sid's he asked, • "What's with the dog?" Of course the whole thing was explained and we did give Brandy a real workout but he likely didn't settle down after as well as the both of us. , Well since that time Brandy has aged and I would suppose if we computed his dog years with my human years we would be of an age. Brandy is somewhat stiff of limb and some hard of hearing. Where he use to bark at you, a stranger, he now lifts his head off his paws,, takes a sad look, -and returns his head to his paws. But the fact is Brandy is still the great family pet especially with the kids. This brings us up to date and a conversation with Nancy over the week-end.
