KENDAL NEWS by Joan Anderson y This first Sunday of the second second season in the Kendal United Church, Epiphany, was opened with a a thought-provoking introduction: Lacking a star, nevertheless let us present our Faith - however tamed; Hope - however strained; Love - however stained. The Lay Reader this Sunday was Wayne Blackburn. The theme this week was Light - that provided by the star to guide people to the manger where Jesus'lay and that provided by Jesus to us in our everyday life now. Light also refers to light to guide ns, light of peace, and that of hope an} the faith in Christ's return. The Children's Time was highlighted by Carole Gardner slicing an apple in half horizontally horizontally to reveal that even the apple has a star in it to remind us of Jesus' star. The choir and congregation sang "Unto Us A By is Born", "Arise Your Light is Come" and "I Am the Light of the World". The Message this week was entitled "The Star and The Stable". At first glance, this seems like an odd pairing, but Rev. Sullivan tied them together well in his message. The Star is brilliant, dazzling, a guide, perfection perfection and the Stable is humble, humble, lowly, smelling of animals, earthy and reality, the complete opposite of the perfection of the Star.
