It's amtth time for Allin's Heading into the weekend things looked pretty darn good for Allin's Orchard pee- wees who had a two-games to none lead on the Ops Flames. Well, Ops took matters into their own hands and came out of the next two games on top winning 2-1 and 2-0 respectively and tying the series at four points apiece. Friday's game at home saw Chris Moffat put Orono ahead 1-0 early in the first however, Ops scored two successive goals and never looked backed. Orono goaltender, Kevin Martin, was sharp this game but needed help offensively. offensively. Friday's game ended with Moffat taking a questionable questionable "hitting from behind" penalty which side-lined him for Sunday's game. The team travelled to Ops on Sunday and saw goalie Steve Trudeau play an excellent excellent game. The Flames, once again managed to sty me Orono shutting them out 2-0. The third period saw end to end play with both teams, looking for the advantage. A remarkably determined effort by Ryan Leddy put the Leafs out front again at the 5:33 mark in the third on assists from linemates Tresise and Witheridge. With the momentum, momentum, Leafs were able to capitalize capitalize two more times with Tresise getting the fourth goal on an assist from defenseman Paul Landers and the fifth goal going unassisted to Brandon Baker on an empty- netter. This much- anticipated anticipated rematch started out rather slowly for the Leafs, finding themselves down 4-1 at the end of the first period. Leddy once again put the first marker on the scoreboard for the home team on a great play from workhorse Bobby Witheridge and Ryan Tresise. The second period was one great comeback for the Leafs as they chipped away at the Ops lead. Goals went to Leddy (2), Ryan Tresise, with one and assists from Witheridge, Jeff Thompson and Jamie Parry. There was no opportunity to relax for either team going into the third. Orono was ahead 6-5 and goaltender Scott Poole shut the door on any further scoring attempts by Ops. Leddy got the insurance marker marker on an empty netter with : 17 seconds left in the game on an assist from Thompson. The ability of the Orono Midget Leafs to turn up the burners has proven to be a valuable asset on their playoff run. This will be a tough game. TUT Sand & Gravel need a horseshoe The only thing TRT Sand & Gravel novices lacked this week was luck. They had it all; great defense, great goal- tending and a sharp offense. Alex Campney supplied some very steady goaltending and the defense Brian Knapp, Jon DeVries, Jordan McDonnell, Caiy Konopka, Ryan Wood and Brandon Miller were tough to beat at the blue line. Orono's offense provided some exciting offensive play. Kevin Jackson scored a beauty when he stole the puck at the blue line and raced in to hit the mesh. They recorded one win; a 6-0 shutout over the hometown Douro team. Courtney Elson recorded the shutout with everyone digging down a little extra to help keep the shut out alive.
