Big Brothers of Clarington is pleased to announce that Bowl for, Millions 2000 was a tremen dous success, raising over $25,000 for Big Brothers of Clarington. The week-long event took place from February 21-26 at Liberty Bowl in Bowmanville, which donated lane times and shoe rental for bowlers. Bowl for Millions is the largest fundraiser of the year for Big Brothers of Clarington. Funds raised will allow Big Brothers to continue continue providing the highest quality volunteer-based mentoring mentoring programs to the boys and girls of Clarington. Over 460 bowlers from local businesses, churches, leagues, schools and families supported Bowl for Millions by collecting pledges on behalf of Big Brothers. "We shared some of the concerns we the Board have, related to some of the grant structures," said Willsher. Government's apparent lack of respect for teachers was also raised at the Newcastle meeting. "To have a continuous verbal battle from the Premier, basically in my opinion,, assailing teachers, teachers, is not conducive to change," stated Willsher. Later he was at the Courtice Community complex complex to discuss transportation and economic issues with the Durham Board of Trade, Durham Labour Council, Ontario Trucking Association,- small business and Agriculture leaders.
