He is driving his combine combine from Dawson Creek, B.C., to Ottawa in hopes of raising awareness of the problems problems in farming these days. Several farmers from the area went to Peterborough to offer support and thanks. Nick arrived in Ottawa on Sunday. Enniskillen and Tyrone churches participated in Big Brothers Bowling in late February. Big Brothers raised over $25,000 dollars in total; our churches raised $1067.20! They were the top organization. organization. Well done and thank you to all those who helped! The UCW meeting on Wed. enjoyed hearing from Arlene and Murray Yeo about their trip to Israel and Egypt. Photographs, maps, newspaper newspaper articles, and the clothing they wore brought home to the group how different life is in Arab countries and in warm climates. Bessie Vaneyk provided provided samples of food from the Middle East as an added attraction. Karen Vaneyk has accepted accepted a teaching position at the British Council Schools in Singapore, and has moved into that city. Durham Pork Producers were well represented at the Ontario Pork annual meeting at the International Plaza Hotel in Toronto on Wed. and Thurs. Attending from this area were Stan Found, Craig Farmer and Ken Lamb, councillors, councillors, and John and Jacqueline Vaneyk, alternates. Pancakes, sausage and scrambled eggs were served to a large crowd following the church service on Sunday, Mar. 12. Jane Smith and her band of helpers worked hard until everyone was fed. Part of the board's special education gifted/enrichment program this academic contest contest will see schools compete within three divisions In six different subject areas: Music, Art, Mathematics, Language and Literature, Social Science and Economics. There will also be a team event called the Super Quiz which focuses on the Sustainable Earth. KPR schools have previously previously competed in a number of Canadian Decathlons, including those in Vancouver and Edmonton and this year will be host to teams for the Trillium Lakelands District School Board and Victor Senior High School from Victor, New York.
