The Newtonville Pastoral Charge Congregational Meeting was held Monday May 8 and adopted the report prepared by Rev. Dr. John Sullivan after the Oshawa Presbytery approved, with a substantial effort at persuasion by Rev. Sullivan, the temporary temporary division of the charge. Although legally we will still be a three-point charge, Kendal will be looking for a half-time minister, as will Newtonville and Shiloh. The current shortage of ministers and ready availability of one and two-point charges make it close to impossible to find one minister to deal with a three- point charge. The appointment appointment of the two half-time ministers will be for a year. Assessments will be done at that point again. Rev. No pets please. Call Rev. Sullivan 's Message this week was "Dialogue With a Strangef" , based on Luke 24:13 - 35. The title "Stranger" was applied to Jesus, for it wasn't until he had been with these men for a while and they were eating together that they final-' ly realized that it was Jesus. They had been devout followers followers of his, and had been very crushed and discouraged when they found he had been crucified. They had heard of his resurrection but were still skeptical. The risen Christ was not an exact reproduction of Jesus of Jerusalem. It is possible for us to see Christ in or working through others. Very often we don't see what we look at. If we have always seen something, we need to step aside and become more objective to recognize it as racial prejudice or discrimination discrimination against women. We often have no idea that what we are looking, for is with us. Our expectations colour our judgment. judgment. It is amazing what you can .do, • when you are not thinking of yourself. Do good things for others and do not think of what you will gain from it. Concerns and Celebrations Ôur prayers are with the following this week. Please include them in your prayers too.
