With a special toast delivered by Pat Le Blanc and a delicious cake, the club celebrated the accomplishments of Karen Martin, Vice President Public Relations and President- Elect, on Tuesday, May 16th, 2000. She had placed first in the Toastmasters International District 60 Evaluation Contest and second second in the International Speech Contest. Russ Le Blanc chaired the auspicious meeting, assisted by the General Evaluator Denise , Marek, the Toastmaster for the meeting Irene Konzelmanri and the Table Topics Master Carol Wonnacott. The latter posed some interesting "what if" questions such as "what, if you had to wear shoes on your hands," "what if your ears fell off when you didn't listen" and what if you had to go back to Kindergarten at age 30." Glenda Baker's speculation on what would happen if she smiled at everyone in the grocery store earned her the Table Topics trophy. The Best Speaker award was presented to Karen Martin and Richard Gagnon was judged to be the Best Evaluator. The Bowmanville Toastmasters Club offers a special presentation entitled "A Manner of Speaking" on Tuesday, May 30th. We invite you to join us at this meeting or any other Tuesday. AJAX - The producers of the Opening Ceremonies for the Ontario Summer Games 2000 are in search of dancers and dance studios that would be interested in participating participating in the Opening Ceremonies. The threerhour kick off to the competitive events will be held at the Oshawa Civic Fields on Thursday, August 10, 2000 beginning at 6:00 p.m. All interested schools and individuals individuals should contact the Games Office by calling 619- 2529 ext. 7264 before May 31,2000. The Ontario Summer Games 2000, the first of the new millennium, will feature over 3000 elite athletes competing competing in 20 different sports at venues throughout the Durham Regidn. This Celebration of Sports Excellence will also be the first integrated Games, as athletes with disabilities will compete in track and field and amputee golf events . The Ontario Summer Games 2000 will be held from August 10 - 13, throughout the Municipalities of Durham Region.
