ss. Wednesday. May 31. 2000 ^ Kendal Eagles 'good to go' Kendal's boys of summer are back on the field again for another season of senior men's baseball. Perennial player/manager, Mike Robinson has returned yet again for what he calls his "final season." Bill Britton is back at the helm as player/coach with assistant coach Scott Robinson. This season's version of the senior Quantrill Kendal Eagles include a couple of junior newcomers--Shane Cowan and Larry Houston. Rounding out the team roster are veterans Cory Baker, Jason Carroll, Steve Dawe, Cory Fenton, Mark Foster, Ray Foster, Troy Foster, Tim Furness, Mike Landers, Brad Robinson, John Robinson, Chris Stark, Dave Trew and Steve West. Highlights of the season for Kendal will be participating participating in the Wyoming tournament tournament at the end of July then hosting the 2000 Ontario Baseball Association Senior 'B' provincial championships being held September 2, 3, and 4 in Kendal. The Eagles split their first two games of the season. First they defeated the Belleville Nationals 12-7 Sunday, May 21st. In Kendal's game against Belleville, pitching was the name of this game. The Nationals' pitching staff struggled hitting three Kendal batters and walking five--six of these eight baserunners came home to score. Starter, Jason Carroll went four innings giving up four runs on five hits, issuing only free pass. Ray Foster threw the fifth and sixth innings was also credited with the win. Troy Foster threw the seventh Coiy Baker aboard via a walk in the fourth and singled in the sixth. The Kendal bats were unusually silent against Port Hope Victoria Day. Eagle batters batters scattered six hits through nine innings while Port Hope amassed 16 hits. Starter Cory Baker was tagged with the loss while Port Hope's Paul Gerard got the win. Steve Dawe and DH John Robinson both singled and scored while Jason Carroll walked and scored all in the second inning for Kendal. . The Eagles have a double- header at home lined up against Peterborough this Sunday afternoon with a 12 noon start.
