Responsible to the Manager of Operations under the direct supervision of the Lead Hand Mechanic, the successful applicant will maintain and repair fleet vehicles and equipment owned and operated by the Municipality, including fire fighting equipment and heavy equipment in accordance with Motor Vehicle Safety Standards; maintain accurate repair records, provide recommendations for fleet maintenance management and assist with the development of preventative maintenance and inspection programs; as well as provide mechanical -and technical guidance to operating and administrative staff to effectively control fleet maintenance and operation costs. QUALIFICATIONS: The Mechanic must have Grade 12 Secondary School Education and Automotive Service Technician and Truck & Coach Technician Certificates are mandatory. Certified Drive Clean emissions Inspector and experience in welding, fabricating and air conditioning is an asset. Proven skill and ability in the repair of hydraulic systems. Valid Class "D" Ontario Drivers Licence with "Z" endorsement. SALARY RANGE: Code 5 of the Outside Collective Agreement (40 hour week) $17.03 - $20.91 per hour. Public Works Employees are subject to standby on call duty and shall be willing to accept temporary assignments and other duties as required.
