Jim's 1 by Tim Rypstra :J This week I made four successful stream trout fishing fishing trips to my secret spots on the Ganaraska river. I was using my 5' ultra light rod with a small size one panther martin fly silver yellow (PMF- SY).*This combo was used for all four trips. My first trip was on Tuesday the 4th. I caught many small rainbow trout and brown trout but none matched up to the catch of the day. A nice chunky 10" rainbow caught by a collapsed bank. The fish was sitting just behind an island about 2' from shore in about 2' - 3' of fast flowing water.,The key location I found most productive was where there was a current change. Whether it was a log, rock, comer, island or rapid change in depth. On Wednesday the 5th I had a much more successful fishing trip. This time instead of going down stream like J did the day before I headed up stream. Once again I caught many small fish and a large brown trout over a foot in length. The big old brown was 14" in length and weighed around a pound. This beauty brown was returned to the water immediately. immediately. On Thursday the 6th my third trip to the dame spot was just as successful as the first with a nice 10" brown trout. This trip was unlike the others, I had company. My cousin Shawn Rypstra went with me and caught a nice 9" brown. We also caught many little browns and rainbows from 3" to 8". these fish were fun and gave a good fight. On Friday the 7th my last trip was the most successful. I went to another spot upstream of the last three. My cousin Shawn went with me also on this very suc- ce m wl a eh Cl n c bn inti w; ha p 1; kb bn lab mi Av.r an ssful trip. Wê both caught any fish fro m 9" t° 'liich weighed no more than pound each, there was an ormous fish that was lafught that day and it was caught by me. Shawn aught an amazing 17" 2 lb. own trout that was tricked o biting panther martin. It as located under an over nging bank. that offered rotection from the sun and d predators. The fish was :pt and filleted. The scientific name for the own trout is salmo trutta. This is a great bip for the e fishermen you know the ones that are home late from a fishing trip. Set your watch ten minutes fast and try not to remember about this time change. Trust me it should work, it helped me.
