^ Orono Weekly Times, Wednesday, Judy 19,2000 * 5 PARLIAMENT HILL ALEX SHEPHERD The successful harnessing of fusion energy can revolutionize revolutionize the world's energy supply. Scientists have been attempting to solve the problem problem of eliminating the destruction of the natural environment while reducing greenhouse gases. (Forty years and $76 billion have been the measurement in both time and money.) Fusion could be the answer to the problem. The scientific community is approaching their final prototype prototype and believes fusion is viable and safe. This brings Durham into the picture as one of the most ideal locations in the world to conduct the research because the Darlington nuclear reactor reactor is both a source of energy and tritium. I have been travelling with the ITER Canada people to Europe and Russia to encourage encourage countries to support ITER Canada's bid. My travel travel was not paid by government government but rather by the ITER Canada group. At a cost of $30 billion over 30 years, not to mention the hundreds of skilled labour jobs, and the approximately 400 scientists who would come to work and live in the area, the project is too important important for us to ignore. But at this time it is all uncertain. When I was in Moscow T was fortunate enough to meet Dr. Evgeny Velikhov, president president of the Russian research centre Kurchatov Institute. The Institute is Russia's pre-eminent science institute from which Russia developed its nuclear program. I found out that while the Russians were caught up in the cold war they never lost sight of being able to harness fusion energy. Dr. Velikhov also chairs the International Fusion Group who are working toward a siting and final preparation for the final experimental reactor. Canada and Russia have more in common than hockey and climate. Our vast territories territories and natural resources have both countries thinking about how we can service world energy demands. Russians, like Canadians, are tired of the prospect of simply selling raw resources like natural gas and oil. Wouldn't we rather export technology, the kind that would be produced if fusion were successful? The real advantage of fusion technology is that it is safer, and more predictable than current energy sources including nuclear, I'm going to continue my involvement in the project. The economic impact this would have on the people in Durham would be massive. We would also be seen as a world science centre, increasing increasing our prestige in Canada and around thé world., f Community Events DURHAM REGION BLOOD DONOR CLINICS Bowmanville - Wednesday, July 19th, Clarington Beech Centre, 26 Beech Avenue, 1:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.; Tuesday, August 8th, Rehoboth Christian Reformed iChurch, 130 Scugog St., 3:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. GO FOR THE GOLD COMPETITION Durham East 4H clubs will be holding, their Go For The Gold Competition on Thursday, August 3, 2000, 6:30 p.m. at Blackstock United Church. Lymph sluggishness results in trapped proteins, that accumulate salts and water, resulting in tissue puffiness and edema. Lymph stasis sets the stage for pre- cancerous and allergic conditions. conditions. Trapped lymphatic proteins proteins entail reduced energy fields with protein clumping which can be readily dispersed dispersed with hi frequency oscillation. Causes of toxicity of the lymph nodes - diets hi in meat and dairy, drugs, hi sodium intake, leaking breast implants, constipation (fewer than two BM's per day), poor exercise habits, use of deodorants, perfumes and body lotions, not drinking drinking at least 8 glasses of water per day. Help is available in the form of - saunas, massage, high frequency oscillation techniques, chiropractic, dry skin brushing, apple cider vinegar, lemon water, colonics and homéopathies. The JadE System goes beyond manual manipulations manipulations and physiotherapy. All of its applications are performed performed with colour (Chromomassage) as a guiding guiding principle. The use of light, heat and sound are based on the pre cepts of oriental medicine - which makes the Jade (colour, sound, gem) difference. difference. For treatment of skin and lymph drainage the derma ray, one of the two available JadE electrotherapy machines is indispensable because it disperses proteins. The use of the rare gas bulbs mobilizes the wastes., initiating initiating drainage. Every movement of electric electric current has a corresponding corresponding magnetic field mov ing with it. When high vibrational energy (crystals, gemstones) are used together with the electricity, information information is conveyed. (Used in communications, not usually usually in medicine). These electromagnetic electromagnetic fields can thus be pulsed into acupuncture points to convey information to the meridians the pathways pathways of energy within the body, and to the chakras, the body's vital energy centres.
