The new barbeques worked well for Tyrone Church Annual Pig Roast. About two hundred people were well fed, with lots of pork, salads, tomatoes and corn. - Our thanks to' Ruth Milne, Ken Dallin, John Vaneyk, Jake Koene, Jane Koene, Gord Tilly, and all the other volunteers who made the whole thing possible. Thanks also to the people who came out to support it! Bethesda Cemetery Decoration Day Service was well attended. Rev. Norm Seli led the worship, with Ray Ashton supplying the music. The Fellowship Time following following the service was enjoyed by all. Church services are back to the regular times: 9:30 a.m. in Enniskillen and 10:45 a.m. in Tyrone. Sunday School begins this week and all children children are welcome. The children children are in the sanctuary for the beginning of the service, then move to the Sunday School for their studies. Choir practice in Tyrone begins on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. If you like to sing, come out!' Durham Region Federation of Agriculture will hold their annual meeting in Utica Hall on Tuesday, Sept. 26, beginning with desserts at 7:45 p.m. Jack Wilkinson, President of the Ontario. Federation will be guest speaker. Door prizes include two "Basic" packages from the Baseline Water Well Testing Package. Members of the farming community are urged to attend. We need a strong organization in these times. AIDS committee holds benefit fashion show The AIDS Committee of Durham will be hosting a fashion show on Sunday, September 10th from 12:00 noon until 3:30 p.m. at Shrimp Cocktail. Guests are asked to arrive early as lunch will be served from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. Tickets have now been reduced to $30.00. Pull out a box of blocks - not for building but to talk about area, size, space, shape and dimension. 7) New readers need to be able to break words down into individual sounds in order to begin to sound out and spell. Cassette/book kits can be a big help in this area as students have fun and practice reading at the same time. Music lessons can help kids to refine theft listening skills. 8) Keep reading to your child even after she has teamed, to read by herself. They way, you can expose her to more complex vocabulary vocabulary and language structure. 9) Rhymes and chants are .great memory boosters - .and it's a fun way to learn! 10) Songs are an easy way to Introduce and practice counting - forwards and backwards.
