The park complete complete with gardens, walkways, a gazebo, lights and a 3 ton fountain, is being constructed on the green space just west of the Community Centre. A millennium grant $44,000 from the Federal Government will cover l/3rd of the cost of the new park, wich will be a joint venture between the Newcastle Lion's Club, Business Improvement Association, Chamber of Commerce, and the Community Hall Board, is being constructed. . Bird Banding Members from the Toronto Bird and Prince Edward Point Bird observatories will have a bird banding station setup along Le Vays Lane Trail. Visitors may accompany accompany the observatory members as they check their nets and learn about birds and bird banding. Bird banding does not harm the birds but gathers gathers information to establish bird migration pathways, population numbers, invasion invasion species and number of species.
