Slime vs Generals REMEMBER: Banquet Oct 21, at Pontypooi Community Centre Tim's Fishin' Lines by Tim Rypstra Tills past week I have been fishing for the most of the time because fishing season Is closing on Saturday, September 30. There Is a Rainbow and Brown Trout extended season from Hwy. 2 and south. Also from the C.N.R train tracks to Lake Ontario is open all year for RainbowTrout, Brown Trout, Pacific Salmon and Atlantic Salmon. The three days I fished last week were Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. On Thursday I brought all my fishing gear to school and went to my friend JFs house with Josh Westerlnk. We fished Wilrnot up at Cone. 7 and found very few salmon up that far. We got to JP's house and I changed Into my waders and vest. I had to rig up my rod so JP ana Josh fished In front of the house while I tied on a small hook with four little split shots and a yellow sponge for bait. In case you don't know what a split shot is it's a round shaped weight that is split half way through. The weight is crimped on the line from where the split is. When I finished finished tying up we all headed upstream to find some small salmon or trout. We found a small Brown trout in a pool and Josh dropped his yam in front of it and the fish struck immediately. Josh not having enough room to set the hook good lost the fish. He tried once more for it and the same thing happened. We came to a beaver dam and found two salmon in the slow moving water. One salmon was healthy and the other was called a skunk. A skunk Salmon has a white strip on its back from going under logs. I managed to hook the healthy one but after a brief fight I lost the fish. We continued up stream Euchre Results for September 20, 2000 1) Mary Henderson 82, 2) Liz Reynders 8j0, 3.) JP with the good netting job helped Josh bring the fish to shore. Upstream I landed a fish around ten pounds. JP deserves a lot of credit for giving giving us a hand with landing our fish. As we were walking along the creek there was a log across the water and Josh tried to climb over it. He stepped on the branches and they broke and he fell on the log. He was in great pain and I laughed at him. Upstream farther I caught another salmon that was probably seven pounds. We were in great hunger after all these events and headed for JP's house for dinner. Josh the great chief cooked us some Rainbow trout steaks from the spring before. The fish had butter, a mixture of spices, onions, lemon juice photo supplied Congratulations to the Orono #4 team who were the 'B' finalists in the Mosquito division of the Darlington Youth Soccer Club. We wrapped it in tin foil and put it on the BBQ along with some potatoes potatoes and seasoning salt. The second day fishing thip past week was to Graham Creek with my friend Dan Reed, We caught many fish and two nice keepers keepers around five pounds. Dan caught more than seven salmon and I caught only three. Dan's fish were all big and he could not hook a small one. I tried for the ' small ones and got them. Dan caught a massive salmon around 35 pounds and I couldn't wrap my hand around its tail to land it. All the fish except the two small ones were returned to the water. On Wednesday I made a trip to Barklays and picked ufp a new fishing reel, the Shimano Stradic 2000 FG spinning reel. I also brought my broken fishing rod to Barklays (it had a flaw in it) so they were great and replaced it with a new on. THANKS BARKLAY's. Corner of Taunton Rd.
