Water will start flowing through the Millennium Fountain on Saturday. The fountain is the focal point of the newly developed Millennium Parkette on the green space just west of the Newcastle Community Centre. The $132,000 park is a joint venture between the Federal government and business business and community groups in the Village of Newcastle. The Parkette consists of interlocking brick paths, a gazebo, and the cast concrete fountain which, sits beside the cenotaph, where a blue spruce was taken down, to open up the park. Jack Wilkinson, guest speaker at the annual meeting of Durham Region Federation of Agriculture, reminded us that we who farm need to get out there and promote, to members of parliament at both levels, and indeed to all levels of government. That same weekend was the Countryside Adventure, so the village was busy. Tyrone Women of the Church will hold their meet ing on Wed., Oct. 11 at 1:15 p.m, Tereza Henderson will speak on her observations of life in the Philippine Islands, after spending the month of August working there. Everyone is welcome. Club 60+ will be serving lunch across the road at'the Orange Hall at noon on the same day. Five, dollars gets you a great meal! Also on the eleventh, at 7:30 p.m. in the Community Center, is an information session session on the qew voting procedures procedures for our municipal election. election. Oshawa Presbytery will be meeting in Tyrone Church on Tuesday, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m. This is a chance to come and meet people from other churches in the Oshawa area, and hear what is going on elsewhere. There are two Bible Study sessions available in our churches. Both are on Tuesdays: at Enniskillen at 1:30 p.m., and at Tyrone at 7:30 p.m. They each have a different approach and you are welcome.at either or both.
