Wednesday, October 1L 2000 J Fall flower show Minnie Zegers' basket of fall vegetables won the Judges Choice Award at the Orono Horticultural Club's Fall Flower Show, last week Thursday. Submitted by Dorothy Barnett Although It was a rainy evening, a good crowd of members attended the October 5th meeting of the Orono Horticultural Society held in the Main Hall of Orono United Church. Pres. Loma Atkins extended a warm welcome to everyone and O'Canada was sung with Doreen Lowery at the piano. Loma opened the meeting with the poem, "A Prayer of Thanks'* especially appropriate appropriate at this season of the year. She announced that a bus trip to the Royal Winter Fair is planned for Thurs. Pat Bales were accepted. The treasurer's report given by' Flo Sharpe showed a total of 112 members for this year. Membership for the coming year will be $5.00 and several several members have already paid. Spring flowering bulbs have been bought for the library flower bed as well as the bed at the Cenotaph. The speaker for the evening, Ian Andrews, was introduced by Loma. Ian and his wife Usa, own Greenwood Interlock, and are graduates of Humber College as Horticultural Design Technicians. Ian gave a very interesting and informative talk on their work.
