12 - Orono Weekly Times, Wednesday, October 18, 2000 Tim's Fishin'Lines by Tim Rypstra This past weekend I went fishing with my friends Dan Reed and Rob Walton. The location that we were fishing was from the Hwy, 2 bridge to Lake Ontario. We were fishing for trout and salmon with row and flies with a couple couple of small split shots. I arrived at the creek at 10:00 a.m. at the Hwy. 2 bridge and met Rob and Dan down stream in a deep pool by the first comer . We fished and caught some small stream trout in the deeper pools. We saw many other people fishing for some salmon in some deep areas. I caught a big salmon south of the C.N. railway bridge. We were tired from walking so far and found a pool with about fifteen fish packed in. There were two other fishermen fishermen there and they had no luck all day. None of us caught any fish from that pool and on to the lake. On our waÿ back I tripped on a rock and fell in the water face first and got a mouth full of Wilmot water. Salmon season is now closed from the C.N. railway and north in the Durham Region. There is a year round fishing season for Pacific and Atlantic salmon from the C.N. railway to the lake.
