On Friday, the Orono club played host to Woodville and skated to an impressive 4-1 victory. Tyler Armstrong led the way with a pair of goals, while Spencer Cole and Matt Field rounded out the scoring. The goaltending duo of Tyler Webster and Alana Ticknor was solid between the pipes. Goaltending, "together with a strong defence, kept the opponent's scoreboard to a minimum. On Sunday, the Orono Orono Peewees Lose to On October 8, the Orono Peewee Rep Team sponsored by Newcastle Funeral Home, travelled to Beaverton. To make it short and sweet, it wasn't a very good game. Apparently, Beaverton has ' a voracious appetite to win! There were so many penalties penalties from both teams that the benches in the penalty box never got cold. It is said that turkey contains contains an enzyme that makes people sleepy. This could be a legitimate excuse for the local team's performance on Sunday. Orono did manage to get on the scoreboard three times. The goals were scored by Steve Burt, Dave Landman and Doug Garlick assisted by Mike Fuller, Daniel Reilly and Brandon Gauthier. Major upset occurred as Omemee countered with 4 unanswered goals and took control of the game. Tyler Armstrong potted goal number number 3, but the Orono club fell short suffering a 4-3 defeat. The players showed their gratitude by playing a skillful and disciplined disciplined game as the boys opened the season in Millbrook. After only one practice, the Durham Aggregate team handed the Millbrook team a 7-1 defeat. From the onset, Millbrook played its usually aggressive, hard checking game. The Orono men (we can no longer call them boys) weathered the stonn and in the second period used Millbrook's plan against them. Steve Foster tipped the puck past an aggressive, pinching, defenseman, Craig McManus fed rookie Chris Field, who made no mistake. This year's team consists of: Ken Jackson and Brock Dunham rotating in the net, forwards Denis Beenen, Blain Cox, Kevin Bourke-Lycett, Josh Dobson, Aaron Zolderdo Andrew McClatchey, Nicholas Hutchinson and Cody Dulbecco, with Katie Defmney, Jeff Mulder, Dustin Armstrong and Michael Barnes on defense. The Atom Leafs started their season off at home against Bowmanville #9.
