' • To review the current voting system. The Vote by Mail system implemented for this election has raised serious concerns, questions, and confusion, especially amongst the seniors, It is important that the election process is understood by all voters. Why should a Chartered Accountant represent you on Council? The Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants ensures that all Chartered Accountants (CA's) meet the highest degrée of integrity and moral standards. The training and experience required by the Institute ensures that only those candidates possessing possessing excellent financial and technical skills attain the Chartered Accountant designation. Under Ontario law, only a Chartered Accountant is permitted to audit and report on government financial information. This is due to the extreme complexity and uniqueness of government information. A great deal of the work performed by a Chartered Accountant is identical to the work performed by your council, including* budgeting, finance considerations, costing analysis, project review, and most importantly, comparing projects where money isn't the only consideration. How do you compare service between two hospitals? These skills take a long time to develop, and require a great degree of training and experience to get right. A Chartered Accountant must prove they have these, skills to even get the CA designation. As a voter, you should ensure your council has a member who already has these skills. "On the job" training is not a good idea when mistakes affect your homes and taxes. CAs are also the accepted leadërs in personal and business assistance and management advice. CA's are the people that both individuals and businesses turn to when they need expert help I believe Clarington should be a place to shop, work and play, as well as a place to sleep. There's no better candidate you can vote for who has that track record and proven ability to make they vision a reality. You trust the integrity, experience and skills of a Chartered Accountant for your tax and finance advice. Put those skills to work on your council. Attaining fiscal responsibility is hard enough for your council Fiscal EXCELLENCE requires ari expert. On November 13, 2000 vote for a representative who actually has concrete plans to better represent you on council, and the professional experience to back if up. Put your "X" on Mark Hendrikx.
