"People tell me how miserable miserable they are and how awful their workplace is, and I can see the kind of stress it is causing in their lives." Gannon feels if you are that unhappy, if the work is meaningless and the environment environment abusive, then there is no question that quitting your job is an option. But, she stress to it Is not the only option. There is the option of addressing the situation from within and finding a new position in another depart ment...and this is a solution that has worked well for many. For others however, neither neither of these are choices. It can be as simple as at that moment it is impossible to leave or change - so staying where they are is the only option available. "That's okay," says Gannon. "Where a problem arises is in the non-acceptance or non- awareness of this option as a choice...their final answer, at least for now." ■ In Garmon's opinion, people people have a natural tendency to drift, or avoid, or become frozen in fear. Sauté 2 sliced Ontario Leeks (white parts only) and 1 finely chopped medium Ontario Onion in 2 tbsp (25 mL) butter until softened. Add 1 can (10 oz/284 mL) cream of potato soup, 1 can milk and 1/2 tsp (2 mL) dried thyme. Heat to serving temperature. Stir together 1/2 cup (125 mL) sour cream and 1 tbsp (15 mL) horseradish.
