O'Toole's Private Member's Bill, to allow historic vehicle owners to use antique licence plates, received unanimous support from all parties and will take the rare step of going straight to third reading. If passed, the Highway Traffic Amendment Act (Historic Vehicles), 2000, would allow drivers to use licence plates issued in Ontario during the same year their antique vehicle wfs manufactured. "I think it's important to realize the importance of the auto sector," says O'Toole. "It's these car enthusiasts who remind us of the history and the heritage and the traditions traditions of the automobile in Ontario today." OToole, the Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Consumer and Commercial Relations, received wide support support for his Bill from various car dubs and individual hobbyists. hobbyists.
