Municipality of Clarington, a quickly growing growing and progressive community, located 45 miles east of Toronto, requires a highly motivated motivated and energetic individual to serve as a Fire Prevention Inspector to its 72,000 residents. The successful candidate will have an Ontario Fire College Fire Prevention Technology Diploma or diploma/degree from a university, technical or community college in Fire Prevention Technology: working knowledge of the Ontario Building Code (Parts 3/9/11 ), with regards tq fire safety matters, and the Gasoline Handling Act and Propane Storage and Utilization Code; and, working knowledge of related Fire Codes, including N.F.P.A. Manuals, National Fire Code. C.S.A. Standards and U.L.C. Standards and Automatic Suppression and Protection Systems. The successful candidate should possess excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills; the ability to evaluate and monitor Fire Safety Plans; the ability to provide technical support and training to Fire Department personnel, as well as the ability to investigate fire scenes; the ability to perform site inspections and co-ordinate with other agencies; the ability to prosecute offenders of Fire Safety Legislation; the ability to develop, implement and evaluate public education programs programs and perform administration duties; the ability to conduct regular and specialized fire inspections, familiarity with PC based word processing processing arid Database functions; and, must possess a valid Class "G" Drivers License. Familiarity with the Crisys Fire Prevention Software would be an asset. Salary range is $35,354 to $54,391 per annum (plus benefits). (1999 rate).
