After two periods of play, Bobcaygeon was leading with the only goal of the game. In the third period, the Leafs sprung into action. Spencer Cole led thé way, scoring Orono's first goal with the assistance of Will Kirby and Edward Meester. Shortly thereafter, the Leafs' Brandon Leblanc scored, pulling Orono ahead of the Bobcaygeon team. Assisting on this goal was Chris Kuijpers. Bobcaygeon fought hard and was once again able to bring the game to a tie situation. situation. With only 36 seconds remaining, Spencer Cole made a beautiful pass to Jesse Desourdy, who fired in the game-winning goal. The goal tending duo of Patrick Rempel and Ryan Brandt were spectacular. Brandt came up with an awesome awesome glove save late in the third period to help save the game for the Leafs. On Sunday, tire Novice Rep team was not quite so fortunate. fortunate. They travelled to Omemee and suffered their second loss of the season. The team just couldn't seem to pull it together, losing by a score of 6-1. There were lots Of penny sale items, ancj door prizes as well. The winner of the crocheted afghan was Velma Parker of Newcastle; the quilt was won by Rita Wilson of Bowmanville. A big thank you to all those who came out to support the event. UGW Presbyterial at Port Perry last week heard front Rev. Bessie Lane about the Townships Project in Africa. Supply convener Greta Down reminded the group to continue continue saving Campbell's soup labels (flat; please), stamps trimmed to 1/4 " around, A&P store tapes, eyeglasses, greeting greeting cards, and pop tabs. Just drop them in the bags at our church. Members of Devitt's Royal Black Preceptory attended the worship service in Tyrone on Sunday, Nov. 4. Following the service, the entire congregation congregation enjoyed lunch at the Orange Hall. The Royal Blacks are celebrating their 125th anniversary this year. On Sunday, Nov. 11, Tyrone church service began at the Cenotaph at the Community Centre with a large crowd attending. Following the Last Post and the Laying of Wreaths, the service continued in the church. Marion Hoar gave some recollections of her husband, Al, being in the service service and sent overseas. The choir sang "Come, Peace of God". Rev. Self presented some thoughts on Remembering. On Sunday, Nov. 25, at 2:00 p.m., there will be a special Worship Service and Tea in the Community Centre. Plans are underway for the third annual Farmers Parade of Lights on Wed. Dec. 5. The parade will start in Enniskillen about 6:30 p.m., Come through Haydon and into Tyrone at about 7:30 p.m. ■Durham Federation of Agriculture will meet on Nov. 27 in Port Perry, to hear about ,thc OFA Convention which takes place Nov. 19 ,and 20. This year's convention has several interesting workshops, as well as elections and a clhance to meet some members of Parliament. Delegates from this area are • John Wagenaar and Jacqueline Vaneyk. RECYCLE Low-Flying Helicopter Surveys Area A helicopter and vans will be crisscrossing our area over the next month to collect information for the i Port Hope Area Initiative, low-level radioactive waste cleanup activities: Residents and visitors in the vicinity of the area shown on the map should not be surprised to see a low-flying helicopter and roadway vans with visible detection equipment. This activity is a necessary part of the Low-Level Radioactive Waste Management Office's work as it begins to conduct studies to prepare for the environmental assessment for the cleanup and long-term management of low-level radioactive waste in the Port Hope/Clarington area.
