My doctor recommended that I get more exercise, so I've started cross country skiing again. Years ago when I lived at the Damneara Ranch, I skied most of the time. I would ski behind a car or skidoo. It seemed a lot easier. Last weekend I went cross country skiing back near Leskard. My, how times have changed. Roads that once were public are now private. Not to offend anyone anyone I would stick one behind my ear and give it to a friend later. Lots of folks would give me refreshments to take along and were damn sad to see me go and would have tears in their eyes. My how times change. It's funny how you don't stagger on skis if you've had a few. There wasn't very much snow last weekend so the skiing wasn't great. I did see a bit of wildlife and I was quite surprised at sighting two Side Hill Jack rabbits. That species seems to be coming back. I wasn't lucky enough to see any Jack- alopes but I did sCe foot prints that may have been theirs. Some folks have reported seeing strange birds in this area and I did site two Gilly- ga-loo birds north of Leskard on Saturday. X was quite pleased. After getting kicked off private private land, I skied down . through a bush and one of my skis got caught on a root or vine or something and I went head ovfer XieelS and landed on my noodle. I ended up with a wretched back and a strained neck. So much for skiing for a while. To pass the time I am selling selling subscriptions to the Orono Weekly Times over the phone.
