-- S PO R TS t- 4 - Orono Weekly Times. Wednesday. March 13, 2002 Allin \s Orchard Bantams advance to provincials The Allin's Orchard Bantams have succeeded in reaching the All-Ontario Finals by sweeping the Douro Dukes in three straight games in the semi-finals. The first and second games of the semi-final match were not good indicators of what Game #3 was to be like. Orono dominated in the first games and won handily. In Game #3, however, on Thursday night in Douro, the host team was all over Orono for the first part of the game. Our boys could not get out of their own zone and were trapped many times. Goaltender Kevin Martin was ready for everything that Douro fired at him. Orono's Doug Garlick managed to open the scoring at 6:24 of the first period on an assist from Kyle Cox. Douro charged right back down the ice after the face-off and tied the game just 13 seconds later. The game continued to be knotted at one goal apiece until late in the second period when Douro took a 2-1 lead. Orono continued to play sloppily sloppily in their own end and they could not seem to muster any offensive energy. That changed in the third period when they came out flying and looked very much like the team from Games #1 and #2. Kevin Martin came through once again in goal, making superb saves to keep his team within one goal. Orono made this a game to remember by tying the score in the last minute. Brian Pisani was the sniper with 48 seconds left. The assists went to Kevin Ladoucer and Adrian Vasseur. The game remained tied until the final buzzer, despite some late, desperate pressure from the Dukes. In overtime, both teams had several chances to win the game. Finally, at 6:37, Orono's Chris Moffat potted the dramatic series-winner on a goal mouth scramble. The goal was unassisted. The series win now sends Orono to the All-Ontario Finals where they will challenge challenge the winner of the Thedford-Drayton series.
