4 - Orono Week 72002 ) ORONO NOVICE LEAFS - All the players on the Stutt's Novice team showed great improvement this past season. Congratulations to all. Tough 3rd game for Stuffs Congratulations to Stutt's Novice Hockey Team for finishing finishing the season as 'B' Division finalists. The final game of the best two out of three series for the championships was tough for Stutt's. With one of their star players missing - Stosh Fabricus - Orono was over taken by Bowmanville's Rose Valley Homes, who won the championship. Goalie Christopher Hermansen was phenomenal in net. The funniest part of the game happened during a scuffle scuffle in front of the Orono net. No one could seem to find the puck! The referee finally blew his whistle. He came up to Kevin Schoenmaker and lifted lifted up his foot. The puck was caught in Schoenmaker's skate! The referee had to wrestle it out from the opening opening in the plastic between the bottom of the boot and the blade. All the players greatly improved over the season due to some great coaching by Steve Lawrence, Steve Cox and Brent Weiss. Thanks to the coaches from all the parents parents and players for their dedication dedication and instruction. Orono went down two straight with Newcastle. On April 2, Orono finished round robin play with Mr. Sub and won 5-0. Adam Wood notched the first, assisted! by Mat Smit. Josh Dobson scored the next two assisted by Wood, Blain Cox and Nick Fallis. Adam Wood scored the fourth assisted by Mat Smit. Tyler Lawrence rounded out the scoring assisted by Tyler Skelton. In game #1 of the playoffs with Newcastle, Orono was shut out 5-0. In game #2, Orono showed up and played a good game losing 3-2. Nick Fallis opened the scoring assisted by Mat Smit: Adair Wood scored the last goal of the season assisted by Kenny Jackson and Mat Smit. Jason Hoyne and Paul Brownell played some outstanding games in net. Cory Veloce, Johnathan Picco, Anthony Amico and Justin Turner played some great hockey! A1 Hoyne, Brenda Hoyne, Kelly Brownell and Jenny Jackson did a great job running the team. Thanks for a fun season! season!
