Regional Councillor Charlie Trim B Quick moving Riflemen in green- The Skirmishers of The Queen's Own Rifles of Canada! Dressed in period uniforms of the 1860's and firing the 1853 Enfield service rifle these volunteers help keep part of Canada's incredible history alive- with a blast! Notice the fast-paced drill and the dark green uniforms - quite distinct from the Line Infantry who wore the tradi- tional scarlet tunics of the day. The Queen's Own Rifles are extremely proud of their Rifle traditions and strongly main- tain them to this day -by the many serving members from this Reserve infantry regiment based in Toronto. The Queen's Own Rifles of Canada are in fact the longest continuously serving Infantry Regiment in all of Canada. Their long and distinguished service dates well back to their official formation on 26 April 1860 as The 2nd Battalion Volunteer Militia Rifles of Canada and contin- ues to serve Canada to this date. Though as with many other militia regiments they can trace their beginnings long before this date. The QORof C as part of the Canadian Army have sent trained volunteers when Canada required troops in troubled times throughout her short history. The Queen's Own helped in the defense of the Canadian border during the Civil War; repelling the Fenian Raids of 1866; quiet- ing the Rebellion of 1870; fought in Saskatchewan in 1885; sent troops to South Africa 1899-1900; created six battalions that fought during The First World War 1914-18; fought in Europe 1939-45; was involved in the policing of the Korean Armistice 1953 , Cyprus 1967 and so many of her troops have served on UN and NATO call-outs through- out the years; they have often helped during the many floods out West and during the Ice Storm here in Ontario as well; presently The QORof C hold a parachute tasking with 32 Brigade- the only Reserve Unit to do so. The Queen's Own Rifles of Canada, part of The Canadian Armed Forces proudly serv- ing Canada, at home and abroad. fa* ESI QEEEQflE 1 1â€" ;â€" TED SPARKS’ musical services REPAIRS TO BRASS & WOODWIND MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS 20 Melham Court Unit #10 Toronto, ON MIB2T6 Tel 416.609.1079 Fax 416.609.0457 E-mail sparx@bell.ca £ j> 0 £â-  I lfft|Al|J[ 1 TAYLOR SAND & GRAVEL Excavating Septic Systems Orono, Ontario 905-983-5003 & RONA MORRISON’S Hardware Donna & Bill Morrison OWNERS • 5337 Main Street P.O.
