Fenelon didn't manage to put up a point until the end of the 2nd period. f Third period had Fenelon tying up the game, but Orono managed to pull into the lead with 2 more goals, one by Dan Reilly assisted by Nick Fallis and the next unassisted by Nick Fallis. Final score 4-2 for Orono. On Sunday October 27, the Orono players were pumped for a hard home game against the Omemee squad. The Orono team lost 6-1 against the "C" division team. During the first 2 periods, Omemee managed 3 goals on net minder minder Shane Winters. Scott Henderson went end to end for a goal late in the second bringing the score to 3-1. Orono couldn't put anymore points on the board in the third and Omemee slammed 3 more in before the end of the game. The Orono squad played a great game. Way to go!! Orono Novice house league team regular season got underway underway on October 19. The team lost the game 3-1. Joshua Canfield managed to score for Orono in the last seconds seconds of the game. Novice houseleague team players are Jesse Brugger, Joshua Canfield, Mitchell Canfield, Hunter Chad, Maria Ferren, .Erie Fjim, Robert Orono's Atom Rep team is on fire. They are unbeaten in regular season play and are #1 in the standings. The Leafs blew out both their opponents over the weekend. weekend. Friday, on home ice, the Leafs soared to a 5-0 victory over the Cannington Sabres. Scoring for the Atom Rep. squad were Ryan Somogyi with the assist from Tyler Webster. Carson Quinn had two great goals for the Leafs - the first a result of a great move which put him in alone on the Sabre goalie. The second goal came off great passes from Eddy Meester and Tyler Webster. Sean Bargent and Spencer Cole both had zingers for the Leafs that were unassisted. On Sunday night, the Leafs travelled to Beaverton, and took on the Blades who were no match for the Orono Cafe. Leafs goaltenders, Ryan Brandt and Patrick Rempel, kept the Blades off the score board with a 7-0 win. Goalgetters for Orono were Tyler Webster from Carson Quinn and Ryan Somogyi, Greg St. James from Chris Lunn and Spencer Cole, Quinn from Somogyi, Sean Bargent from Eddy Meester, Spencer Cole from Lunn and St. James, Lunn from Adam Duke and St. James, and Stosh Woodville desperately tried to come back Sunday night to beat the Peewees but just didn't didn't have enough to match our Leafs. The game finished with a score of 10 to 4 for Orono. Brock Dunham was between the pipes for this home game making some great saves. Some strong defensive skills were seen from Jeremy Caruana and Tommy Meester. Matt Dobson potted the first goal only 33 seconds into the game, assisted by Garrett Klompmaker. They then switched roles so Klompmaker was the one to score assisted by both Dobson and Gardner Cole. With less than 2 minutes left on the clock in the first period, Jeff Mulder zipped one past the Woodville goalie assisted by Jevon Staples. The Herr, Jacob Lyle, James McAlpine, Tristan Packwood- Greaves, Tyler Rich, Landon Stutt, and Kristian Walker. The players looks forward to an exciting year led by coach Brad Canfield and traniner John McAlpine. The first period saw little action. Orono's Greg St. James scored the lone goal. Assisting on the fast goal was Eddy Meester. In the second, Greg St. James found every opening and scored two more to make a hat trick for the left winger. Assisting on goals #2 and 3 were Spencer Cole and Chris Lunn. The third period full of great goals and remarkable assists. Tyler Webster had a one-timer to score the fourth off a pass from Sean Bargent. Chris Lunn was not far behind with the fifth unassisted goal. Ryan Somogyi notched the sixth with help from Spencer Cole. The final goal came with under a minute remaining. Sean Bargent blew one past the Mariposa goaltender with a quick pass from Stosh Fabricius. Ryan Brandt and Patrick Rempel had the shut-out for the Leafs. Last Sunday the Leafs travelled travelled to Newcastle for their first tournament of the season. The Leafs lost to Cobourg by a score of 4-1. Orono's only goal was scored by Spencer Cole, Greg St. James assisting. first period ended 3 -0 Orono. Woodville was able to get their first goal early in the second second but Orono pounded back 4 more goals. Klompmaker blasted in his second goal of the game assisted by "Playmaker", Josh McGill. Less than a minute later, Tyler Johansen fired one in as Lucas Martin made a great pass. "Playmaker", McGill scored the first of his hat trick, assisted assisted by Kompmaker. Staples got the fourth goal of the period assisted by Klompmaker. The second period ended 7-1. Orono players came back full of zip and blasted 3 more past the Woodville goalie. McGill scored two, the first assisted by Nick Kuijpers, and the second unassisted. Dobson scored Orono's final goal unassisted. unassisted. Winger, Tyler Armstrong made some great passes during the game. Woodville then came to life and scored 3 goals with the game ending 10-4 for Orono. "Work Horse", Chad Moore was on the injured list. The Peewees have a busy schedule this week: Tuesday at Sunderland, Friday against Cannington at home, and then on Sunday evening in Fenelon Falls. JM The team regrouped and pulled themselves together to play a winning game in the second match. The Atom Rep. prevailed over Port Hope by a score of 5-2. Scoring for the Leafs were Spencer Cole with two, while Carson Quinn, Sean Bargent, and Chris Kuijpers added singles. Assisting on the goals were Tyler Webster, Ryan Somogyi, Chris Lunn, and Ty Simpson. This win allowed the Orono Club to play for the B Division Championship. The team was once again faced with taking The Allin's Orchard Midget Leafs faced their northern rivals, the Highland Storm on Sunday October 20 at home. With the bench short a few players, Stephen Hicks got the call up and showed his worth by scoring the first 2 goals for Orono. The first assisted by Barnes and the second by Millson. At the end of the second period, Orono was up by a score of 4-2 with extra markers by Millson from Caruana and Szymczak from Moore. In the third, the Leafs were able to put one more goal up on the board as Szymczak fed Heerschop for their fifth goal of the game. They skated away on the club from Port Hope. The boys once again dominated dominated the ice. The Leafs took home the B Division Championship, winning by a score of 4-2. Greg St. James notched a goal and two assists, ' while Spencer Cole added another with one assist. Ryan Somogyi and Tyler Webster had goals for the Leafs. Chris Lunn contributed with two assists, Chris Kuijpers, Stosh Fabricius, and Tyier Middleton each had one. It was a great way to start out the season. with a 5-2 victory with Crashley in net. The Midgets tied Fenlon Falls on Friday night, Oct. 25. also at home. The Leafs led 1- 0 at the end of the first with a goal by Szymczak, assisted by Cox and Millson. Martin in net made some great saves. The second period saw 7 goals scored in total with Orono getting getting 3 and F.F. getting 4. Orono's goals came from Caruana, Sutton and Dunham with assists to Szymczak, Pisani, Barnes and Sutton. No goals were scored in the third.
