Orono Times, Wednesday, November 13,2002 - 6 W Clear win for Newcastle Funeral Peewees The Peewees hosted Fenelon Falls on Tuesday night. Fenelon was unable to score against goalie Brock Dunham in the first period, however Fenelon was determined to get the first goal. Orono answered back with Matt Dobson blasting one in, assisted by Tyler Armstrong. With only 2:46 left on the clock in the second period, Fenelon scored their second goal. The Leafs came out of the dressing room before the third period well rested and ready to put the pressure on Fenelon. Garrett Klompmaker scored with Tyler Johansen and Dobson assisting. Orono tried many times, but just couldn't break the 2-2 tie. On Friday night, the Leafs traveled to Woodville and just demolished their team. Shawn Lowe was between the pipes for the first half of the game and made some terrific saves. Jeff Mulder got the first goal and also assisted in 2 others. others. "Work horse" Chad Moore and Nick Kuijpers each scored a goal and got an assist for their efforts. Tyler Armstrong and Garrett Klompmaker each accumulated 2 goals and 2 and 3 assists respectively. The Peewees play in a tournament in Cannington on Saturday and then travel to Manvers on Sunday night for 6:30 p.m. game. Unfortunately, the team was unable to capture another win, and they lost the game 6-2. In the first period, Sam Leggott scored Orono's first goal off of a rebound, the assist going to Jamie Stevens. In the second period, Denis Beenen was fed the puck at the front of the net where he picked the corner for the goal. Great passing was done by Jamie Stevens and Sam Leggott who both got assists. Orono's next game was played in Darlington on November 10. The team suffered suffered another harsh loss, with a score of 6-1. The opposing team scored three goals within the first five minutes of the game. Orono started to play harder in the second and third periods and the other team only managed to score three goals in this time. Three minutes minutes into the third period, Jamie Stevens scored Orono's only goal of the game. Assists on the goal went to Kevin Bourke and Denis Beenen.
