Orono Weekly Times, Wednesday, November 13,2002 - 6 , a < Juveniles blast Peterborough but miss shut-out in 8-1 thumper The Dufferin Aggregates Juveniles are making short work, of opponents these days and the wins continue to pile up. After two victories this past weekend, their record now stands at 9 wins, 1 loss and 1 tie. On Saturday night in Beaverton, it took a while for the rust to shake off but when it did, the opposition net was filled with pucks. The Beaverton Blades scored first, early in the second period on a power play. Orono tied it up about six minutes later when Derek Heerschop gathered up a rebound in front of the net and slid it under the sprawling goal- tender. Captain Tyler Knight put Orono ahead 2-1 when he batted the puck off the top of the Beaverton net, then received a great pass from Phil Fracz standing behind the goal. Ryan Homes drew the other assist. Orono continued to find the back of the net in the final period. Fracz scored what proved to be the game winner from Knight and Adam Tollett. On the next shift, Chris Field was left unattended in front of the Beaverton goal and tapped in a pass from Scott Wood. Beaverton scored their second a few minutes later,- but Ryan Homes iced it midway through the third from Tyler Knight. Chris Wood was not tested a lot in goal for Orono but came through when called upon. Final score 5-2. The next night, Orono returned home to face Peterborough. Orono cruised to an 8-1 victory. Jamie Parry opened the scoring just 24 seconds seconds into the game on a blast from the point. Assists to Ricky Hôwe and Derek Heerschop. Howe and Heerschop teamed up again to set up Mark Lemieux for goal number two. Mike Trotman scored early in the second period on a hard shot from the high slot area assisted by Jamie Parry. Howe potted his first of the night from Heerschop and Scott Webb. Tyler Knight made it 5-0 on a blast assisted by Ryan Homes and Phil Fracz, sending Peterboro's starting goaltender to the bench. Chris Field made it 6-0 late in the second on a pass from Ryan Homes. Derek Heerschop continued his hot hand as he potted one from Colin Organ and Knight. The two teams headed to the third with Orono dominating at 7-0. Peterboro finally cracked Chris Wood in goal and spoiled the shut-out bid late in the third. Orono's Lee Allin scored one more for good measure, lifting a dump-in shot into a wide open goal, fooling the Peterboro net minder. Final score in, this one ended at 8-1. -SW NEWCASTLE BOWLING LADIES LEAGUE High Scores 175+ November 18, 2002 BOWLER GAME GAME GAME ONE TWO THREE Bernice Westerink 185 Betty Major 204 D. Chris Haass, on a very nice breakaway, scored early in the first period. Later in the same period, he found the back of the, net again after a scramble in front of the net. Hepco scored in the second period after a bad bounce of the puck and then they tied it up early in the third, ending the game in a 2-2 tie. Curtis Stainton had a great game in net for Easton's - his first as a net minder. Thanks to Kevin Kelly for the extra help coaching Curtis. The whole team worked well together Saturday.
