In addition, the new health tax that will cost many families upwards of $75 per month starting July 1, breaks the government's promise of no tax increase. Thank you for taking the time to get in touch with me regarding chiropractic chiropractic care and other budget concerns. concerns. Trailer tax update In the House last week, I had the opportunity to ask Ontario's Minister of Finance for an update on his Ministry's approach to the controversial assessment and taxation of seasonal recreational recreational trailers kept at campgrounds. campgrounds. I am disappointed that Minister Sorbara did not make a Finn commitment to a specific solution. However, the Minister promised his government would go to work on the problem, and members of the opposition will hold Minister Sorbara to that commitment. commitment. The trailer industry coalition is meeting with Ministry of Finance representatives representatives June 14th to discuss alternatives. Forcing seasonal trailer-owners to pay property taxes will place ownership of trailers out of reach for many families. In addition, this added expense will hit the tourism industry, businesses in cottage country, campgrounds, campgrounds, and trailer manufacturers. manufacturers. As Ontarians head to their trailers this summer, I would like to see the provincial government government offer some solutions that will give some peace-of- mind for the future. After asking for input on the legislation and suggesting some of the concerns concerns raised, it would seem that some readers felt I was opposed to the seats. In fact, I am in favour of any fair and reasonable legislation that makes the highways safer for children or adults. However, it remains the obligation of the Official Opposition to scrutinize each, government bill and ensure it meets with the approval of Ontario's citizens. citizens.
