The contest was launched on May 31 and closes on June 30. So far over 50 contest entries have been received. "This contest is a fun-filled way to help explain to children children the many benefits of shade," said Chris Amott, a public health nurse with Durham Region Health Department. "Teaching children children to seek shade is one of the easiest ways to help reduce their exposure to the harmful rays of the sun. Children learn by example, so we encourage everyone to incorporate seeking seeking shade as part of a daily sun protection practice to help prevent prevent skin cancer."
