Visitors can enjoy 11 types of gardens, from herb gardens to medicinal medicinal gardens, and fun activities for the whole family, including including discussions and tours. Part of what makes Black Creek Pioneer Village's Victorian gardens unique is the traditional approach to cultivate the grounds the same , way that Canada's early settlers settlers did, without the aid of today's prepared fertilizers and pesticides. Special activities planned during these signature theme months include: Gardening Tips - On Wednesdays, Thursdays Thursdays and Fridays from 11:30 a.m. and noon, visitors are welcome to tour the gardens with the Village's head gardener gardener of 18 years, Dennis Pollock. On this tour, Dennis will highlight favourite Victorian flowers, houseplants and design motifs, and also offer handy growing tips and interesting facts about heritage heritage plants. Storing, saving and eating seasonal foods -- Victorian style! On Saturdays and Sundays at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., Black Creek Pioneer Village proudly presents heritage food expert and author of Nothing More Comforting Canada's Heritage Food, Dorothy Duncan offering discussions on harvesting and preserving foods the pioneer way. Games in the Garden While visiting the gardens, engage in some fun family activities.
