Wednesday, November 3, 2004 Orono Weekly Times I ARM STRONG I.G.A. PEE-WEES OPEN SEASON This year the Orono Armstrong I.G.A. Peewee team looks very well balanced. balanced. The coaching staff, players, and parents are looking looking forward to a very fun and challenging season. On October 22, 2004 the pee- wees travelled to Newcastle. As usual, it is was a very spirited spirited affair against Newcastle. The team put up a very exceptional exceptional effort, but had trouble finding the mesh and the game ended 1-0 for Newcastle. Robert Brosseau played amazing in net and the whole team put forth a great effort. ' On October 24, 2004 the Armstrong I.G.A. team travelled travelled to Courtice to face Checkers Variety. The team showed à lot of heart in this game and we came away with a victory, winning 3-2. Goal scorers weré Brandon Lane (1), Brandon Mathwich(l) | and Dean Engelbert (1). I Assists were earned by Daniel Stavrakos(l) and. Kyle Mathwich(l). The team is working very hard in practices practices and we look forward to a very rewarding year. Allin's Orchard Midget Rep capture two The Allin's Orchard squad had two away games this week, the first in Ops on Wednesday October 27. In the first game, Orono walked away with a solid 3-0 win, with the shutout going to goalie Troy Webster. This season season a trend has started with no goals being scored in the first period. In the second period, the first goal was scored by Steve Hicks, assisted by Cam Richardson up from Simon Kingston. The next goal, one minute into the third went to Kingston, assisted by Hicks, from Richardson. The third goal for Orono went up on the board at the 10 minute mark, this time the point going to Scott Henderson assisted by Hicks and Kingston. Game six was played in Woodville Saturday October 30. The game was tight from start to finish, Woodville putting putting the first point on the board, in the second period. Orono was the first to score in the third, with a beauty beauty goal by Brent Vanstone, assisted by Devan Sutton up from Josh Moffat. The next Orono goal, less then a minute later, was slammed home by Greg Howe assisted by Steve Hicks. For the final two minutes of the game with a man in the penalty penalty box, the Orono team with Evan Rosseau in net was able to hold off the visitors for the victory. Mitchell Jackson got the offense going by scoring scoring a pair of goals in the first period to put Orono ahead, only to have James Insurance tie the score 2-2 before the period was over. Both of Jackson's goals were set-up by Jacob Dolley who has been doing work in the comers and putting the perfect passes to the front of the net. In the second second period Polymer Extrusions took the lead and got the game winner on a pair of goals by Tyler Balson with Corey Peeters and Cavan Willsie picking up assists.
