Wednesday, November 17, 2004 Orono Weekly Times - 7 Bantam Reps win some, lose some It's been a <wery busy weekend for our Bantam Rep team! The weekend started out with a ride to Bobcaygeon on Friday November 12th. Bobcaygeon opened the third period with a 3 to 0 lead over Orono. Even with a goal in the third period by Lucas Martin, assisted by Ben Stefanin and Nicholas Kuijpers, they weren't able to conquer their "opponent and the game was won by Bobcaygeon 5 to 1. Players arrived home at 11:30 pm from Bobcaygeon and headed out early Saturday morning for a Bantam tournament tournament in Campbellford. The first game was amazingly exciting! It was against Lindsay, who had a 1-0 lead in the second period. Jeff Mulder took a shot from the blue line, which sneaked by their goalie to tie the game 1- 1. The assist went to Andrew McClothey. The remainder of. the game had the fans in the stands, on their feet. As the game ended in a tie, there had to be a tie-breaker which consisted consisted of five minutes of three- on-three. Still no winner! Then the shootout - Matt Dobson was the only player on either team to score a goal on the opposing goalie and Orono claimed the victory! The next game in the tournament tournament was against Ennismore, who scored the only goal in the first period. Mackenzie Kingston scored in the second period to tie the game. Unfortunately, Ennismore Ennismore scored another 3 goals in the second and third periods to take the game 4 to 1. The third and final game was against Cayuga. This game was for the B series championship. championship. Orono were the finalists finalists and Cayuga were the Champions of the B series, after beating Orono 7 to 2. Thanks to Mackenzie Kingston and Tommy Meester who both got goals to get Orono on the board. Sunday night had Woodville coming to Orono for a home game. It was a terrific terrific game and everyone gave it their best. The following goals and assists allowed for the 4 to 3 win. Andrew McClothey scored the first goal assisted by Matt Dobson. Tommy Meester had the second second goal assisted by Mackenzie Kingston and Matt Dobson had the third goal assisted by Meester. The final goal was late in the game, thanks to Kingston with the assist from McClothey. Stutt's Pharmacy Novice Leafs undefeated Stutt's Pharmacy Novice Leafs remain undefeated, winning winning their last game 4-2 against Bowmanville 3. Bowmanville scored early in the first period, but Cameron Reilly came back with two goals in the first to give Orono the lead. Jimmy Chaplow and Mitchell Traschler both scored their first goals of the season. The defense remained strong with Ryan Armstrong, Kale Stephens, Jacob Stere, Daniel Owens and Tyler Trimble. The forward play by Jacob Diamond, Austin Cole, Glenn Acorn, Elizabeth Jackson, Jack Kingston and Luke Crosby kept the game exciting with plenty of shots on net. Daniel Benedict returned to goal and played an outstanding outstanding game. Thanks to Stutt's Pharmacy for their support. Next game is Saturday, November 20 at 4:00 in Orono V.H. Thanks also to Shawn Lowe who was in net Friday to Sunday and played terrific throughout and to Matt Puddicombe and Jordon McDonnell for keeping everyone everyone in line! Orono's sixth consecutive game in 4 days saw Manvers in Orono on Monday night. It was a very exciting game with back & forth action from start to finish. We had excellent goaltending by Alanna Ticknor. The game finished with a 3 to 0 win for Orono; thanks to Manvers for a very good (and challenging) game! Tyler Armstrong assisted on all three goals - other assists were given to Matt Dobson and Mackenzie Kingston. Goals went to Tommy Meester, Mackenzie Kingston and Jeremy Carauna. Lowlevel H-uiioMilve Waste Management Office Monday November 8th the Orono squad made their way to Omemee for an 8:30 game.In the second period Omemee scored twice but Allin's couldn't find the back of the net. Alex Hart had net duties for> the game, along with a strong defense consisting consisting of Brent Vanstone, Doug Garlick, Evan Moore and Kyle Balson. The Orono team worked hard but couldn't make the moves happen, losing losing 2-0. Game # 2 for the week was a home game for the squad. Woodville came down for the Sunday game. Allin's came out ready for a pass and play" game. Woodville started the scoring off in the first period at the five minute mark, Orono came back with a goal of their own just one minute later. Orono's first goal went to Steve Hicks assisted by Josh Moffat and Devan Sutton. Second period Orono's Matt Moffat slipped one in with a great pass from Sutton. The last period of the game belonged to Orono, 3 more goals in the third made for a nice 5-1 win. REDUCE First point going to Sutton up from Josh Moffat and Steve Hicks, second goal going to Doug Garlick assisted assisted by Greg Howe and Scott Henderson. The last of the 3 goals went to Greg Howe assisted by Brent Vanstone and Henderson. Troy Webster was in net and made some great saves. B.H. Major Plumbing Leafs play Fenelon Falls to a draw The Leafs played Fenelon Falls on Friday night to a 3 to 3 draw. Last time the two teams met it was a one sided affair with the Flyers coming away with a 6 to 1 win. This game started off with both teams playing a defensive defensive game, and ending the first with no score. In the second second the Flyers got on the score board early, but the Leafs Dustin Boyd tied it up on a short handed goal assisted, assisted, by Ben deBoer and Connor Hegan. Fenelon Falls came back right away and went up 2 - 1 by the end of the second. The Flyers looked like they might have put the Leafs away early in the third with another quick goal, but the Leafs wouldn't give up. They kept the presure on, and finally were rewarded on a goal by Jarret Lane. He took a pass from Mitch Van Schyndel, and took a hard shot that the goalie could not keep outside the goal line. The Leafs kept on coming at the Flyers, and with less than a minute to play tied it up on an unassisted goal by Ben deBoer. This makes the Leafs record 5 wins, 2 loses and 2 ties. L. W.
