Caruana and Bickell who now play for the Ontario Hockey League sponsored a charity skate at the Orono Area, where they first played hockey. Global Accoustics make a sound On Sunday December 19th, Jesse Desourdy, for the Accoustics, had a great game and came away with a hat trick, scoring all three goals to come from behind and tie. Brandon Leblanc assisted on all three goals and Anthony Bortolazzo and Glenn Murray both had one assist each. There was strong defensive play from Kevin, Trevor and Troy. On Saturday December 11th the team came away with a 3 - 0 win. Patrick LeBlanc made many great saves to record a shut-out. The kids played hard and made great passes. Jesse Desourdy scored two, with nice assists from Anthony Bortolazzo and Erik Easton. Chris Hermansen made a nice pass to Glenn Murray who put it past the opponents goalie. D.B. HEARING SERVICE Complete hearing test now available at Anicara Wellness Services 5331 Main St.,Orono Bakeshop undefeated in New Year The Village Bakeshop Midgets competed during the Christmas break at a tournament tournament in Lakefield and came away "A" finalists. The Orono team faced off against Mariposa, Lakefield, and the Lakefield rep team. They played a good tournament, winning two out of three games. On January 2nd Orono met Newcastle #1. The Orono team was trailing by three when Devin Robinson, assisted assisted by Mike Howe and Josh Flynn, put them on the board. Adam Wood brought the score closer with one, assisted by Andrew Fudge and Robinson. In the last minute of play Robinson tied the game with the assist going to Fudge. The team members, Kevin Bourke, Doug Deboo, Daniel Hodgson, Andrew Kirkbride, Brien Konopka, Garrett MacDonald, Heather Maitland, Dan Reilly, Jesse Rice, Shane Winters and Garrett Wood all played a strong game to capture the tie. D.W. Leaf's "B" finalists The Orono Leafs finished as "B" Finalists in a holiday tournament in Douro on Decemeber 28th. The boys started the day strong with a solid win over Deseronto 2 to 1. The Leafs had strong goaltending all day long with the solid play of Daniel Benedict and Cooper Phillips. The team was off to a good start in the final game, and came on strong with the score 2 to 1 in favour of Douro. In the third the Douro team took a penalty and this looked like the turning point for the Leafs, but the Douro penalty killers turned it around and scored 2 short handed goals. The final tally was 4-2. The goal scorers in the tournament were Ben deBoer (3) and Mitch VanSchyndel (1) with assists going to Ben deBoer, Connor Megan and Tate Simpson.
