Orono Weekly Times - 3 Wednesday, February 23, 2005 Places I've Done Time by Clifford Francis A woman scorned It was with great glee that I learned someone was incensed incensed by what I write. "It's just horse s t," they said. Who it was, or when it was, does not concern me. It's just nice to know that at least . one person reads me. I just hope it was not someone I spumed along the way. I felt the wrath of a rejected rejected girl, years ago. I had been nothing more than an occasional occasional companion to a girl from Oshawa v More or less a drinking buddy, except she could out drink me on most nights, or afternoons, and maybe the odd morning. To me it was just wonderful to have such a friend. We fell out when she decided to move her belong- , ings, along with three cats and a couple of dogs. I might have accepted her, but not the livestock. livestock. I had enough of my own. As the hippies used to say, she was moving into my crib, and I would have no part of it. Finally I relented and let her leave her cats and dogs, but not her. She had two weeks to find lodging for her animals. Within a week, all three cats and one dbg had run off. Where and for why, I don't know. At the end of the week when she showed up, she was in a rage. She grabbed the one remaining dog and cleared off. She told me that I had not seen or heard the last of her, and that was true. Several days later I received a summons to appear at court. I can't remember all the things I was accused of, but I remember a few. I was accused of turning her away from Christianity, turning her into an alcoholic, stealing all three cats and the dog, breaking breaking my promise to marry her, turning her away from her home, lying to her - which I would never do to anyone, failing to pay her wages for cooking and cleaning. The judge read the accusations, looked at me and asked, "Is this all possible?" I replied, "It's possible, but I doubt it." So did he, and he threw it out. Aw, the wrath of a woman. Clarington's official plan indicates the future closures of -the Bennett Road interchange, and replaced with a new interchange at Lambs Road, to the west of Bennett Road. Walker also said his client would be willing to work cooperatively to extend Base Line Road from Lambs Road to Bennett Road, and extend water and sewerage services to their proposed development. Mayor Mutton said he didn't think the closing of Bennett Road interchange and the development of a new interchange at Lambs Road was going to happen any time soon. "The ministry ministry isn't going to spend money on upgrading existing existing interchanges," he stated. "And the Region can't afford to spend any more money on interchanges. When we first planned the Lambs Road Interchange, we never had a huge community community at Wilmot Creek, and we never had a Science Park planned," he stated. The AYT property is at the eastern edge of Bow- manville's urban boundary.
