"The Summer Work Student Exchange (SWSE) program is an excellent opportunity that young people should take advantage of. The students will come back from the exchange with better French skills, lots of memories, memories, and a great experience." said Sandra Ward, Durham Coordinator for the SWSE program. Students from Durham will travel to a francophone community for six weeks in July and August where they will live with another participant's participant's family. They will work full-time at a non-profit organization. Free weekend activities provide students the opportunity to develop an appreciation for Canadian culture and have fun practicing practicing their French. Students interested in gaining gaining work experience, traveling traveling and improving their second second language this summer are invited to visit www.summer- work.com for more information information and applications. Nonprofit Nonprofit organizations can also apply to receive a grant and have a francophone student work with their organization this summer. Applications are due May 20th. The SWSE program is currently currently celebrating its 10th anniversary. SWSE was founded in 1996 by the Hon. Denis Paradis and is currently administered by the Canadian Unity Council. The program will give 1,200 students across Canada the opportunity to improve their second official official language, gain work experience and live in another part of Canada this summer. There is no cost to participants, participants, thanks to funding from the Department of Canadian Heritage through Exchanges Canada. Transportation is provided provided by Via Rail.
