I don't know about you but, I am having having a hard time believing that our kids I will be out for summer vacation in about six weeks. As a parent, I know | that summer vacations do not just happen. They require co-ordination and planning! The Community Services Department has put forward a wide-ranging list of choices for you and your children to consider. The Summer Community Activity Guide will be delivered delivered to each household in Clarington in the June 1st edition of the Canadian Statesman. The Day Camp, a traditional favourite, is back in the line up for this summer. Activities include sports, games, swimming, trips, special events, arts and crafts and much more. There is also a trip camp that has a line up of excursions that will interest, excite and challenge. Skateboard Camp is back and will be visiting a location in your community beginning July 4th. You can find the location schedule in the Community Guide. There is also a drop in program every afternoon at the Rickard Complex. The new Indoor Soccer/Lacrosse Bowl facility is hosting a Sports Camp that is intended to help develop participants' participants' athletic skills in a friendly, non-competitive environment. environment. For individuals interested in pursuing their leadership goals, the Leadership Camp is back and is now two weeks. For those who enjoy more artistic endeavours, I encourage you to check out the returning returning Drama Camp. In addition to these programs, you can also check out the programs being offered by our partners - the Visual Arts Centre of Clarington, the Clarington Museums and the Clarington Public Library. A new entry in the summer program line-up is the "Kids in the Marsh" summer program. These are all described in the Summer Community Guide. The Community Guide is your source for program descriptions and registration information. Other useful information, such as camp-hours, extended care (to assist working parents) and what each camper should bring with them, is also detailed in the Guide. OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT BUILDING SERVICES I The Operations Department requires a Building Services I, maintenance person. The duties and responsibilities of the Building Services position are performed under the supervision of the Director of Operations. The successful applicant must be willing willing to work evenings, nights and weekends. Responsibilities: Maintain the Municipal Administrative Centre, Main Branch Library and the Fire and Court Building in a clean and orderly fashion Perform heavy cleaning duties such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass Duties may include but are not limited to performing routine maintenance activities including exterior maintenance I Note: This position requires moderate physical exertion and weékend/shift work is required in accordance with the terms of the Collective Agreement. (Qualifications: Experience and knowledge of custodial and building maintenance and ability to follow assigned work routines is essential Current First Aid Certificate, WHMIS training and familiarity with the Occupational Health and Safety Act will be considered an asset.
