My, how time has passed by. Twenty some odd years ago, I was racing a horse at Quinte Raceway in Belleville and after the .race a girl introduced introduced herself to me. Her name was Harriet, and she was one of my cousin's cousin. Upon my insistence, her and another girl came over to the bar where I was sitting and had more than a few drinks. She was going to the University in Toronto and invited me to go • out bar hopping with her and a few of their friends at my earliest earliest convenience. That took place a few short weeks later. Dressed in my finest cowboy apparel, we went from bar to bar. The first couple were slow, with poor music,* but the drinks were fine. The third or fourth bar was great with good music and lots of people. A girl came over and bought me a drink, and asked if I was a real cowboy. My reply was, that I could ride anything, and she seemed happy with that. She asked me later to dance and on the second dance I found that Gert was really Bert, and that ended the dancing. I explained that we didn't row the boat the same way, but thanks for the drinks anyhow. We moved along to some other bars but that is where Harriet met her future husband. For some time I was semi suspicious of her new boyfriend, but he turned out to be a wonderful husband. The second funny part was when they got married in Belleville where Harriet lived. The night before the wedding wedding we went out for a few drinks after rehearsal, the groom, his brothers and myself. The groom got really drunk so we went back to the hotel. The groom's brother helped to get the poor fellow undressed and he fell face down on the bed. I was mixing a night cap when I noticed a squirt ketchup and mustard container container on the table so I pull the grooms shorts down and gave him three or four good squirts of mustard. I finished my drink and hit the air. Everything was fine at the wedding the next day until the groom dropped the ring. When he bent over to get it, you could see the yellow through the grey tux. I whispered to the old lady next to me that he must have been nervous. Then I just had to leave the church and I went out and laughed and laughed.
