/ Wednesday, June 8, 2005 Library Continued from front Maxine Hoos felt there should be more control on the use of computer terminals at the library. "I have a problem with people not being able to get a terminal for research," said Hoos, "when they are all being used by kids playing .games." She said she would like to see more internet terminals terminals at the library, as long as the library does not end up being a hang out for teens. "This is not what a library is about, a gang of friends playing playing games," she said. When asked about the services currently provided by the library, it was expressed that the library does offer a good range of services to all age groups, however it was felt that more could be done to support school curriculum. A wish list for a new library, according to those at Monday's public meeting, included homework stations, web casting stations, comfortable comfortable seating in the study area, Orono Weekly Times - 3 with big comfortable chairs like at Chapters for browsing, and big windows in the children's children's area. "Building a new library facility in the downtown could be an anchor for renewal in the downtown core," said Allan Kirby. A new building in the downtown should reflect the architect and design era of the ■ existing town, according to Kirby. Once the needs assessment has been completed, the Library Board will draft a report for council with their recommendations for a new Newcastle Library. Council will make the final decision on where the library will be located, and what it will look like. A needs assessment for the Clarke Branch is on the library board's list of things to do, according to Library Board Chair Allan Hewitt. "We recognize it's an old building, and if we want to keep it as a viable branch, there are things we will have to look at," he stated, following following the Public Meeting. I suggested to His Worship that the prosecution and the court apparently had no regard for my time. Our injustice system, even in traffic court, is quite simply a joke!
