Wednesday. August 31, 2005 Ambassador Continued from front and the crown for a year. Tanya says her year as Ambassador has helped her overcome her fear of public speaking. "Now the worst part is getting up in front of the people, not the speaking part," she said. Tanya feels that the lessons she's learned this year will be of great benefit to her as she pursues a career in teaching, where she'll spend a great deal <?f time talking in front of people. As Fair Ambassador, Tanya got to hand out ribbons at the Fair, emcee a few shows, and. she got to introduce Canadian country music star Julian Austin, at his performance, at last year's Fair. Tanya says she was amazed at how many people knew her by name after last year's Fair. Having grown up in the area, and being related to a lot of people in the vicinity, Tanya says a lot of people knew who she was because of her job at the bake shop, but after the Fair people were calling her by name. Tanya Says this year was amazing, and she is grateful grateful to her sponsors and the Fair Board for giving her the opportunity to represent the Fair this past year. Tanya leaves Thursday for Laurentian University in Sudbury. While exited about starting university and moving moving on to the next stage in her life, Tanya regrets she will not be able to attend this year's Fair, and hand over the crown to her successor. With the Orono Fair only two weeks away, the Fair Ambassador Committee is looking to recruit contestants for this year. Contestants must be 17 years old, male or female.
