Ganaraska Forest Centre hosts Open House Ganaraska Forest - Fall is a spectacular time of year to walk through the wilderness of the Ganaraska Forest. On Saturday,' October 1st, 2005 from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. the Ganaraska Region Conservation Conservation Authority (GRCA) is hosting their Annual Ganaraska Ganaraska Forest Centre Open House. There were eight delegations delegations listed to speak on the agenda regarding four separate separate dog bite incidents. The first case dealt with a letter carrier who was bitten by a four and a half year old Brittany Spaniel named Sandy while delivering mail to a home on Saunders Avenue in Bowmanville. The Saunder's home was under renovation at the time-and the dog inadvertently inadvertently got loose. Since Sandy's owner, Darren Mills did not appear before council to have the Order to Restrain repealed, it was upheld. Directions to the Ganaraska Forest Centre: If you're travelling from the west, exit Hwy. 115 and travel east about 10 km on Durham Road 9. Turn left at the Cold Springs Camp Road sign and proceed 4 km to the forest. From the east, travel west off Hwy. 28 onto County Road 9 and proceed about 2 km west of Elizabethville. Turn right at Cold Springs Camp Road into the forest. Joey MacKinnon who was visiting the residence broke up the dog fight and was bitten in the process. The Order to Restrain on Mr. Hendricks was not upheld. On July 26th, a young lad was bitten by a sled dog in Courtice as he jumped out of a tree in the greenspace behind his house. That Order to Restrain was upheld; The last incident took place on July 30 in the group camping camping area at Darlington Provincial Park. The dog owners owners report that their dog was microchipped, restrained at all sleeping on the ground when a times while the dog is bn it's 6 year old fellow camper own property by keeping it in approached the dog without an enclosed pen, use a muzzle warning, went down onto her and a leash when the dog is off knees and attempted to pet the the property, and notify the dog. The dog owners testified Clarington Animal Shelter that the little girl startled the staff immediately when Sandy moves to a new location. The second incident occurred after midnight on June 8 at the farm of Hugh Allin. Mr. Allin was dog-sit- ting Mr. Hendrick's 50 pound dog, who woke up with a little yelp bit the young girl on the face, and went back to sleep. The dog owners feel the bite was not the result of an attack but rather a result of the dog being startled out of his sleep.
