On September 20th, 2005 shortly after 9:00 a.m., Durham Regional Police were called to General Motors Headquarters Headquarters in Oshawa regarding a suspicious package. An employee in the mailroom who had x-rayed the package found the contents to be suspicious and alerted GM officials. Officers from the Explosive Disposal Unit (EDU) were dispatched and assisted with the investigation. investigation. After working closely with General Motors Security, the EDU successfully successfully collected the package and safely disrupted disrupted it. It was determined determined that the object was not an explosive device. There was never any threat to the building, employees of the facility or any members of the community during this investigation. The DRPS would like to thank employees of GM for their co-operation and understanding. DRPS has commenced a criminal criminal investigation.
