Wednesday,October 26, 2005 Cafe Reps crowned "A" Champs The Orono Midget Rep hockey team faced off against Millbrook for their second game of the season, Sunday October 16. The game was well played by Orono, but the Millbrook team walked away with a 4-2 win. Orono scored two goals in the first period while Millbrook Millbrook slipped one by the Orono net minder. The first goal was scored by Dan Reilly, assisted by Tom Meester. The second goal for Orono came off of Greg Howe's stick', assisted by Josh Flynn. In the second period, Millbrook put two more points on the score board and another point, one minute into the third period. Jason Hoyne had a great game in net. On Thursday October 20 Mariposa came to Orono ready to play, and play they did. The Orono team worked - hard but couldn't seem to out manoeuvre the Mariposa team. Dan Reilly put Orono's only goal on the board unassisted unassisted while Mariposa found the back of the Orono net more then once. Kenny Jackson played a solid game in net. This past Sunday night, October 23, Orono travelled to Fenelon Falls for a eight o'clock start and came away with their first win of the season. season. The final score of the game was 8-3. The goals in the first period went to Adam Wood and Matt Moffat, the first goal assisted by Devon Robinson, and the second assisted by Wood from Tom Meester. The second period point earners were Howe, Reilly, Mike Whelan, Justin Westerink, Devin Robinson and Wood. Assists were credited credited to Wood, Meester, Reilly, Moffat, and Cam Delorme. Jason Hoyne played a great game in net for the Orono squad. &//.. This past weekend, the Orono Country Cafe Atom Reps travelled to Campbell- ford for their first tournament of the year. In the first game, Orono won 14-0 against the Ennismore Eagles earning goalies Cooper Phillips and Mitchell Young the shutout. In game two, Orono faced off against the Mariposa Lightning and once again Orono dominated, winning 9- 1, sending them to the "A" Championship. In the third and final game, the Country Cafe reps played the Stirling Blues and won 6-1, crowning the Orono team "A" Champs. The many points were handed out as follows: Dustin Boyd (7g,3a), Christopher Haass (7g,3a), Dylan Dennis (6g,5a), Jacob Diamond (4g,la), Tate Simpson (lg,3a), Warren Ball (lg,2a), Mitchell Trachsler (lg,la), Ian Third (lg), Ben deBoer (lg), Christopher Christopher Third (3 a), Cody Hughes (2a) and Daniel Benedict (la). Tyler Hutchison was a strong factor on defense to help the goalies. Dustin Boyd had his first hat-trick of the year and Chris Haass was picked team MVP for the championship game. Last Monday in regular season play, the Country Cafe reps hosted the Cannington Sabres in their season home opener and thoroughly dominated dominated the Sabres. Mitchell Young and Cooper Phillips earned their first shutout of the year.
