Over 350 sports enthusiasts, family and friends were on hand to acknowledge the achievements of this year s inductees. Induction into the Clarington Sports Hall of Fame is no easy feat. This community has a long and storied history of sports excellence. The Hall of Fame Committee had over 50 nominations to ponder debate and challenge before selecting this year's very worthy . candidates. This speaks volumes to the legion of volunteers, volunteers, coaches, officials, and execu- ('llrinftu fives - who have created the envi- .rV >\ ronment for our athletes to excel. ,* *, [congratulations to: * William Hockin - Athlete ■ Bill Brunt - Builder ■ Darlington Men's Soccer League - Honourary « Mosport Motor Speedway - Honourary • Bowmanville Eagles Jr. C Hockey Team (1978/79) • Courtice Secondary School Sr. 1971 Soccer Team The inductees, their families and guests were treated to a special evening of good food, good camaraderie and good entertainment. Master of ceremonies Brian McFarlane kept the evening Ion track and entertaining with his anecdotes from a life- Itime of association with hockey and the National Hockey League -- just a hint of what we can expect when Clarington's Brian McFarlane Hockey Museum opens in the Fall of 2006. Also, what a thrill to listen to Hockey's most famous father[ - Walter Gretzky, and hear him share his stories of life with the "Great One". However the highlight of the evening was the induction of this year's recipients. The pride displayed by all as they accepted their awards and the camaraderie and fellowship fellowship of teammates as they relived their past glories. This is what all athletes strive for! Congratulations to the Clarington Sports Hall of Fame Committee on a wonderful evening, and to the 2005 Inductees on their superb athletic achievements. c The Municipality of Clarington is currently hiring for the following following position(s).
