The first game had Freds matched up against Ops Bantam team. Orono scored first, with Scott Duquette putting the puck in off passes from Anthony Bortolazzo and Tyler Johansen. The next goal of the game did not come until early in the third period- by Neale Aziz with assists to Tyler and Glen Murray. Ops were able to tie the game at two. A solo effort.by Tyler Johansen made the final score of the first game 3-2 for Orono. Orono's second challenge of the tournament was the Omemee Sharks. Omemee scored early in the first which was responded to by Derek Snow on solo rush and a bad angle shot beating the Shark goalie on the short side. Omemee pulled ahead in the second period, however Freds Autobody came back to win with third period goals from Matt Field and Neale Aziz with assists going to Jesse Desourdy and Daniel Stavrakos Orono wins game two, 3-2. Orono met the Whitby Bantam team for the "A" finals. Whitby came out early in the first period and scored two goals and it looked like Whitby was going to control the game. Orono was able to pull together though and tie the game up before the end of the second period with a goal by Tyler Johansen assisted by Dustin Hinchey and the other goal was credited to Jessie Desourdy from Chad Moore. Early in the third period Whitby scored, and it seemed like it sealed Oronos fate but once again Orono rallied and tied the game three apiece late in the third. Orono managed to maintain the tie till the end of the third period, thanks to . defensive work by Alex Shkuratoff, Chris Hermansen and Eric Logeman along with outstanding goaltending by Justin Sarginson. The excitement built as the "A" final went into overtime. The overtime protocol in this tournament had one minute of five on five then one minute of four on four continuing down until ten minutes of one on one hockey. Orono held on until well into the ten minutes of one on one hockey however, however, Whitby was able to use their size to their advantage and wear our tired player down. Whitby scored to win the final in overtime. No Orono coach or parent saw the loss, they only saw a great game of hockey. „ Helping to manage wildlife MNR expands Sunday gun hunting TORONTO -- The province province is helping _ control wildlife populations by expanding expanding Sunday gun hunting to 67 more municipalities in southern Ontario and all or part of 14 geographic townships townships near the French River, Natural Resources Minister David Ramsay announced today. "We believe these expanded' expanded' hunting opportunities will help address concerns about vehicle-wildlife collisions and crop damage caused by burgeoning burgeoning wildlife populations in some areas of Ontario," said Ramsay. "They will also provide provide an economic boost for communities." The province consulted with communities in southern Ontario last year and posted the proposal on the Environmental Environmental Bill of Rights Registry. Only communities that Play heats tip for Bantam Reps After a long break, the Orono Bantam Rep Logistics started their consolation playoff round on the Nineteenth - of February at home, against the OPS Flames. Orono, was missing four players for the game, three were due to suspen sions from the Newcastle game. It was an intense game for both the players and the fans. The entire game was close, but Orono finished the game with a 2-2 draw. Goals were scored by Chris Lunn unassisted, unassisted, and Stosh Fabricius assisted by Ryan Somogyi (with a great screen by Chris Lunn). Shawn Lowe played a great game and made many tremendous saves, keeping the Logistics in the game. • .
