4 - Orono Weekly Times Wednesday, March 15, 2006 Blue Rodeo's Bob Egan at Orono Town Hall by Donna Wood A musician in his own right, Bob Egan is a skilled steel guitarist, who once was a key element of the band, Wilco. He joined acclaimed Canadian band, Blue Rodeo in 1999. On March 25 he will take to the Orono Town Hall stage, for an intimate evening of melodious song with the definitive sound of the steel guitar; a musical mix that he describes as a cross between "Tom Waits" and "The Traveling Wilburys". Bob, originally from Mississippi, has now made Canada his home. "I am here to stay" he states, joining Blue Rodeo has been an "experience "experience of a lifetime;" an experience experience that, at one point he never thought possible until a fortuitous meeting one night with legend Johnny Cash that solidified his career choice. Watching Johnny on stage was a turning point for Bob. He was "moved to tears" by his talent and it was then that he committed himself full-time to music. Forever grateful for the opportunity to play with several several talented artists such as Freakwater, Wilco, Oh Susanna, Susanna, Jim Cuddy, Northern Pikes, it's his hard work and skill in mastering the harmonic harmonic complexity of the pedal steel guitar that has brought him here today. Looking forward forward to playing at the Orono Town Hall venue, he will be premiering the pedal steel guitar, guitar, playing some fan favourites, and some new work that will be featured on his fourth solo CD release due out in May. Bob Egan will showcase songs from his new CD at the Orono Town Hall on March 25th. We Salute Our Veterans XVIIIa , Thur. Mar.16,1944. F/O (P) Alexander Colborne COLVILLE J21864. Correction Correction: In last week's Big Box story, we stated incorrectly that developers offered to pay the three Business Improvement Areas (BIA's) in the Municipality $780,000 over the next 10 years if they or any of their members appeal their development development to the Ontario Municipal Board. That sentence should have, read that the developers would offer to pay the three BIA's if they did not appeal the development development to the OMB. ' \ . . . .
