Ennismore. After splitting the first two games last weekend, the boys played three games this past weekend to end the series. Friday night's game was in Ennismore. The Eagles scored the first goal of the game at 6:27 in the first period period and then scored 24 seconds later to take a two. goal lead. Orono fought, hard and was finally rewarded with a goal in the second period. Josh Moffat scored at 7.55 of the second period on a break away, .with a leading pass from Jimi Provenzana. The Orono boys continued to apply pressure for the balance of the period and went to the dressing room at the end of the second down 2 -1. In the third period, Orono could not get a goal past the amazing Eagle goalie. Brent McGregor was in net for Orono and played an outstanding game. Ennismore came to Orono on Saturday night with hopes of wrapping up the series. The Eagles only needed a win in order to advance to the All Ontario Finals for the fourth year in a row. Both teams battled battled back and forth with the teams going to the dressing room after two periods, tied in a scoreless game. Ennismore came out hard to start the third period pressing for the win. The Orono boys held their ground, but neither team cbuld beat the goaltenders. It turned out to be a goaltender's dual and both goalies kept their team in the game. It was still tied at the end of the third period and as it went into sud den death overtime. During the 10 minute overtime both teams had numerous chances and the goaltenders once again kept the puck out of the net. The final score was a 0-0 tie with each team getting a point. This gave Ennismore five points in the series compared compared to Orono's three points. The sold out crowd at the Orono arena witnessed an outstanding outstanding game and a phenomenal phenomenal performance by both goalies. In' net for Orono was Kyle Johnston who deserved better fate than a tie. The fifth game of the series was played in Ennismore on Sunday afternoon. afternoon. Ennismore only needed a tie in order to advance to the finals. The Eagles opened the scoring with a goal at 11.04 of the first period. Orono continued continued to pepper the Ennismore goalie but could not get a puck past him. Ennismore scored again in the second period at 9:42 and'6:25 to take a three goal lead into the intennis- sioli. Orono came out fired up in the third period, and did not give up. Adam Cryderman ■ scored at 5:31 with assists going to Tanner Millson and Jimi Provenzana to get Orono back in the game. The Orono boys kept pressuring, knowing knowing that they needed the win in order to bring the series back to Orono. Ennismore scored with 1:56 left in the game to break the backs of the Orono team. Final score was 4-1 for Ennismore taking the series in five tightly contested games. The Dufferin Aggregates had an - excellent season. During the regular season they had a record of 14-1-1; they beat Shelburne four straight games in the quarter finals and pushed Ennismore to five games in the semi finals. On March .4 they traveled to Campbell-ford for a tournament tournament coming home, 'A' Champs. The whole team contributed to the success of the weekend. Earning shutouts were Devon Dennis and Cassy Dolley. Gibson Megan and Kevin Gough also had solid games in net. The defense •shone, led by Seth Hampson, allowing only three goals in the four games. Some offensive offensive highlights included Daniel Dixon recording his first hat trick and Cameron Timmins netting his first goal of the season. Peewee's successful consolation round Orono Newcastle Funeral Home Peewee's had a successful consolation round with four wins, one lost, and three ties. Orono awaits completion of other games to see if they advance to the one game final. Orono opened with a 3-1 victory over Ops and 2-1.victory 2-1.victory over Newcastle, then Newcastle turned the table on Orono and defeated them 2-F. Orono tied Feneldn Falls 2-2, Omemee 2-2 and defeated defeated Fenelon Falls 7-2. Orono and Omemee played to a 3-3 tie, and closing out the round, the Peewee's had a 4- ■ 0 victory over Ops. Leading the Peewee's offensively were Zach Young with six goals and five assists, Brandon Mathwich with four goals, one assist, Fred Smith and Josh Canfield with three goals and one assist each. Zachary Gibson had two goals and five : assists, Jeremy Moore and Trevor Homing added, two goals, two assists. Mitchell Jackson had a single goal and three assists.
